my mother always told me

that when i was little, i insisted i wanted to be a cleaning lady. she teases me that she was afraid my aspirations were a little too meek for my seemingly bright future.

well, i'm 25, happily married and ready for the universe to start pointing me in the direction of my future. i no longer wish to be a cleaning lady (although i do sometimes enjoy washing the dishes - in fact, especially if they're someone else's), but that's about the extent of it. for a woman of only a quarter century's experience, i seem to have accumulated a very long and varied list of vocations and hobbies, most of which will never have the potential to earn me a living - and a lot of them have lead to dead ends one way or another, even if only because i decide for no good reason that they are, indeed, dead ends.

and so, in the true spirit of awkward-first-blog-entries, i would like to make a promise to myself that i will attempt to use this little space as an avenue for the emotional and (hopefully somewhat) intellectual exploration of who i am and what i want to be when i grow up.

hopefully i don't look back on this post and cringe. the end. (for now).
